According to the press service of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, under which PlayCity operates, these are the agency’s results after two weeks of work.
«We are fighting the shadow market of gambling and lotteries so that only legal companies operate in Ukraine,» the ministry’s press service noted.
It was also promised that citizens will soon be able to independently report the activities of illegal casinos through the PlayCity website.
«Previously, the state lost up to UAH 10 billion due to the shadow gambling market, so the fight against illegal casinos is one of PlayCity’s priority tasks. We are working on automating the process to remove the human factor and fully digitize the sector,» the Ministry of Digital Affairs added.
As dev.ua reported, the PlayCity agency, which regulates the gambling industry, in early June revoked the license of the PIN-UP online casino, whose activities are linked to the Russian Federation.
Recall that the government adopted a resolution to liquidate the previous regulator — the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries — it was to cease operations on April 1 and give way to the state agency PlayCity, which operates under the coordination of the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed Gennady Novikov, who previously worked at the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries, as the head of the new state agency of Ukraine «PlayCity».
