Managing partner of Unit.City Serhiy Yevtushenko, quoted by Forbes, cites among the project’s advantages increased energy independence, protection of cars from direct sunlight, hail, and snow, as well as economic benefits from producing its own electricity.
«Not every investor is ready to spend money with a seven-year payback. But we are going for it because we are long-term owners of Unit.City and we want to close the issue of energy autonomy,» Yevtushenko notes.
The power plant, with an area of 0.6 hectares, is to cover 414 parking spaces.
The cost of the project, according to the publication, is 650,000 euros per 1 MW, and it is financed by the UDPR company, which is part of Vasyl Khmelnytsky’s UFuture holding company, which is a joint venture with Unit.City.
At the same time, Unit.City does not plan to connect the solar power plant to the general grid, because the business center consumes from 2 to 9 MW, so the plant will only be able to partially cover its needs.
In addition, in late 2025 — early 2026, Unit.City plans to build 2 MW of energy storage.
«A good balancing tool is to store electricity at the lowest rate and use it at the highest,» Yevtushenko explained.
As Forbes states, the global market for solar power plants above car parks in 2024 was worth about $500 million, and, according to the Precedence Research analytical center, it could double in 2025.
As dev.ua wrote, Nova Poshta, as part of its energy independence program, launched its first cogeneration gas piston unit, and in the summer, Nova Poshta’s subsidiary Nova Energy plans to launch its first electricity storage unit.
