«Do I need to add information to my resume that I have a good military service record and am on deferment? This will mean that I can save on my reservation. Does this add a green flag and increase my chances of getting a job offer?» the developer asked .
«Skills, commercial experience, a positive attitude and desire. If you have these factors, you will not be left without a job,» writes Senior Python Developer Georgy Potapov.
Head of AI Department Andriy Khromets believes that even if you don’t add this information to your resume, HR will ask the candidate about it on the first call. «Unfortunately, these are the realities. I recently changed my job, everyone asked me. But all Ukrainian companies were there and hired employees, not sole proprietors. Maybe it’s related to this,» he states.
Dmytro Volovyk said that he encountered such a question from HR. «One company asked her HR, at the welcome interview, at the end of the conversation. But they only work through GIG contracts. So, yes, a self-employed person’s box, then it doesn’t matter,» he said.

Senior .NET Developer Vyacheslav Boretskyi, in turn, said that having a deferral or reservation was an additional criterion for starting an interview. «It’s better to add that I had a reservation once, or a deferral was a condition for starting to communicate for a vacancy,» he advises.
Engineering Manager Yegor Abramenkov says that adding this item to your resume is worth it. «Of course, because you are a minimal risk for the company, and if it has access to booking, then you are two people, not one. This makes you exactly twice as good as the second-rate candidates, and that’s just at the resume stage. If you are also a cool specialist, then salary negotiations can be held at a higher level than at the pre-war level, because there are not thousands of people like you, but only a few,» the IT specialist explains.
Global Technical Recruiter Bhdan Hnatyuk also believes that it is worth mentioning the deferral on your resume. «My personal opinion is that it is. I personally highlighted this when I submitted my resume to a company, and the number of responses increased significantly. But again, it all depends on the company,» he explains.
«Many companies will throw you away because you can book up to 50%. And this means that someone else can book you. This is a strong trump card. Stay real,» says Senior Software Engineer Felix Sirenko.
And recruiter Tetyana Kozachenko believes that such data will not be superfluous in the «Additional Information» section of the resume.
