However, this does not add dynamics to the project — the code often does not work. She asked the community if it is normal for AI to do all the work of a programmer. Here is what IT professionals think about this.

I communicate with dozens of candidates every week. On the outside, everything is familiar: experience, resume, salary expectations. And most live in a country where war is ongoing. Where the background level of anxiety has long been off the charts. And that’s why something deeper is often hidden under classic career questions.

C++ Developer Vyacheslav S. asked the community whether it is necessary to add information about the military accounting specialty and deferment, if any, to the resume. The community is considering this issue — the conclusions are disappointing.

Recruiter Margarita N. shared on LinkedIn a list of the strangest situations she’s had to interview candidates in. In the comments, hiring experts and IT professionals added to this list, and dev.ua also asked recruiters from large companies about the most interesting interviews they’ve had in their practice over the past year.

“This is already a must-have, there are already cases where engineers are asked to write online coding prompts during interviews,” is one of the comments we saw on LinkedIn. It was written by Software Developer Viktor Svertoka after discussing such cases with colleagues during a meeting at the DOU Day IT conference. So we decided to ask team leaders whether they practice such a task, and vice versa — we asked developers whether they have encountered such a requirement. In addition, we monitored vacancies on jobs.dou to check how often employers require candidates to have such a skill. Here is what our small study showed.

Despite all the rich epithets about self-development, vocation, team atmosphere, and «kindred spirit,» the main motivator in any job remains salary. Its timely and full payment is the «base.» And if this condition is violated, not everyone will want to continue working with such an employer. But what to do when salary debts accumulate, but it seems like no one is thinking of paying them? Everyone has the right in this situation to go to court, but this involves a lot of time, expenses (after all, it is difficult to cope on your own without a lawyer) and nerves, so not everyone goes this route.

A successful team is an environment where people want to stay, grow, and invest. Today’s IT market is not only a competition for talent, but also a battle to retain it. Companies spend thousands of dollars on hiring each new specialist, and if they leave after 6–9 months, that investment is lost and the team can feel the drain of experience, trust, and rhythm.

Recently, the media reported that Telegram, one of the most popular messengers among Ukrainians, is connected to the Russian FSB. However, the management of the messenger’s developer denies this information. Meanwhile, many Ukrainian companies use Telegram for internal communication. According to a survey conducted by dev.ua, 71,4% of respondents use dev.ua to resolve work issues. And only 14,3% prohibit the use of Durov’s messenger at the level of corporate rules. dev.ua asked what messengers Ukrainian IT companies use to discuss work issues. Of those companies that responded, none use Telegram, according to the answers.

Sometimes, even before the first question, you feel like you have a strong candidate in front of you. Experience, understanding, logic — everything is in place. The voice trembles, phrases begin with «I probably can’t» or «I was just helping out there» (although in reality the candidate was managing the project).
